Children’s Miracle Network Mediathons

Residing in Gladewater, TX, Janet Andersen most recently served as the regional CFO for UT Health in Tyler, Texas. Outside of her professional life, Janet Andersen gives back to the community through her involvement with charities and nonprofit groups in Texas and across the country. Among other groups, she supports Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

One of the largest and most important nonprofit organizations devoted to children’s health care, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $5 billion for its hospital partners around the United States since its founding in 1983. The nonprofit organization raises these funds through a variety of initiatives, including annual Mediathons.

Each year, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals partners with nearly 400 radio and television stations across Canada and the United States to produce live broadcasts from the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals network. These broadcasts play a vital role in spreading awareness of the organization’s mission while sharing stories of patients and illustrating how donations help provide life-saving treatment.

The Mediathon initiative comprises Telethons and Radiothons, leveraging the power of the image and omnipresence of the radio to amplify the organization’s message. The Radiothon has been especially successful, raising more than $50 million annually through English and Spanish broadcasts.
